Felties
Needle felting is a rather brutal technique where a very long, sharp, and barbed needle is repeatedly stabbed into wool. This tangles the wool, binds it together, to create forms.
For me it’s a love/hate relationship… frustrating at times, painful at times. I heard myself complaining about needle felting, so I recently decided I should revisit this way of working. It does have some therapeutic benefits, as far as acting out frustrations with our chaotic world, but when I stab my finger, the pain is real and I shout out.
I’m self-taught and learn via exploration and experimentation. These odd figures are expressions of those who populate my imagination. They birth themselves, while I watch.
