Fiber art has long been labeled “women’s work,” often relegated to the realm of craft rather than recognized as Fine Art. Materials like fabric, yarn, and thread haven’t traditionally carried the same weight as paint and canvas, though that’s thankfully shifting, with growing respect for fiber-based practices. In recent years, I’ve become deeply immersed in these materials—their tactile, repetitive processes offer a kind of meditation, a way to stay grounded and stitched together through turbulent times. This has become a daily practice.
