Power Wands
Expirimentation propels me to explore three-dimensional fiber forms. These works are inspired by my hoops, fiber collages, and the Power Sticks I made with students and friends that involved wrapping yarn, string, ribbon, and wire to attach natural and human made found objects to bamboo poles (2’ - 10’).
They reference holders of power made various cultures for various purposes. Voodoo dolls, smudge sticks, amulets, forms that hold wishes, hopes, and dreams. At this time of tumolt in our world, I ground myself by pouring my thoughts (hopes, dreams, fears) into these “vessels”.
